The Blue Heron Days Committee is Looking For Sponsors to Support 2008!
The Lino Lakes Blue Heron Days Committee is excited to announce that the Blue Heron Days will take place on August 15, 16 and 17, 2008! We are looking for local businesses to make this year’s event successful by sponsorships. The festival needs the support of the local businesses in order to succeed. We do not have set levels of sponsorship this year as previous years; any contribution is going to help put on the event. This year the business that sponsors $5,000 will be honored as the Grand Marshall of the Blue Heron Days Parade!
The first Lino Lakes Blue Heron Days Festival was held in 2004. Blue Heron Days was so named because Lino Lakes has the second largest Blue Heron rookery in the state. The Blue Heron has been the city logo for many years, symbolizing the area's beauty and natural amenities.
A highlight of the festival is the parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday on Lake Drive, starting at Target and ending just short of Main Street. The parade has become more popular each year featuring floats of local organizations and businesses and the Lino Lakes Ambassadors riding on the city float. Other popular events include the Lino Lakes Ambassador Coronation, Patriot Bank’s Medallion hunt, Quad Area Chamber Commerce and Crafts, various family events at the YMCA of Lino Lakes, the Legion’s family picnic, and a street dance on Friday and Saturday night at Miller’s on Main. The coronation is held on Sunday of that weekend to crown the next year’s Ms. Lino Lakes. Each year something new and different brings families out to enjoy the festivities.
